RE: awaken - Larkee - 5/12/2026

Mountain. Simple enough. Some wolves don't name locations, Larke can live with that.

He watches Iðunn take a dip. It reminds Larke of when he would swim with his family at the clover lake. A nice little spot, comfortable. Similar to this in some ways. Larke does not dip himself into the water, but has to hold back a laugh when Iðunn comes out not bothering to shake. The wolf is soaked, water dripping down. Thankfully it is not cold here.

He's not sure where he'll go next. This island is nice, but... Sticking in one place forever sounds awfully terrible.

Anywhere. he replies.

He's not sure where here is to decide on a next. What about you?

Perhaps they could go together? Maybe if Larke apologizes for being rude? Hunting will be easier with two wolves, even if means feeding more mouths.

Maybe we could um. Go together? Is this guy even interested in travel?

Larke feels like a rabbit caught between teeth.

RE: awaken - Iðunn - 5/12/2026

Enjoying the cool water on its skin, Iðunn let the water continue to soak into its thick fur, even if it weigh it down. It was a simple pleasure that was soon ruined, its higher body temperature warming the water almost immediately. Huffing, it shook without bothering to make sure Larke was clear of the spray. It was just water. He would dry.

Anywhere, he said. It was not a bad perspective to have. Being unbothered about the location one called home was something Iðunn wished he could experience at some points. It wasn't easy living so high up, especially in the colder months, hence why it's stomach was concaved beneath it's fur. Perhaps with its fur slicked back, it would show more clearly, but it did not bother to check. It did not care how it looked. It would gain body weight now the weather had improved.

Mountain. It repeated. The mountains were the only place it enjoyed, though it knew it would enjoy the journey to a mountain range. While it disliked the flat plains that were common where it was born, it enjoyed a towering forest, and rolling hills. It was usually enough change in scenery before it reached another range to conquer.

It's yellow eyes, which had strayed from the pale man, slid back over immediately as Larke mentioned travelling together. How interesting. Iðunn knew nothing about Larke, and vice versa, and yet he was offering his permanent company. Was this for some ulterior motive, or perhaps a fear of being entirely alone? Why? He said, phrased like a question, but said like a statement. Iðunn had never had a travelling companion, so why would it need one now?

RE: awaken - Larkee - 5/18/2026

Mountain.

Skies above. Larke hates mountains. They make him feel sluggish, Larke can remember the pack he and Octavia were with for some time. He'd gotten used to it - but exercise had made him feel... Strange.

Good for you, Larke. He thinks. Being mean to someone and then offering to be a travel partner. What kind of idiot does that? Not one that wants to keep their meat on their bones.

He's willing to take the risk. It's worked before - some time in the past.

Two is better than one, yeah? We can hunt together.

This guy doesn't seem to talk much. Larke wonders why, but he won't ask. Maybe its a personal thing.

RE: awaken - Iðunn - 5/21/2026

While Iðunn had no need for a travelling companion, Larke made an excellent point. Hunting, while not a particularly difficult thing of life now it was older, was made much easier with a second wolf who knew what they were doing. Still, it wasn't sure how much use Larke would be, however, considering his small size, similar age to itself, and lack of substantial scars over his body.

It raked it's eyes over the other wolf's body, harsh and considering. Iðunn had never made an agreement with anyone, but it supposed it might turn out in its favour. If it didn't benefit him anymore, he could always break it off. Promises were only words, after all. It had never been the suspicious sort, nor one to regret an action that had not left it injured, or worse off.

Larke's prickly exterior should be unappealing, but the more Iðunn thought about it, the less irritating he seemed. Grumpy wolves often didn't speak much, and neither did it. It supposed he could have some sort of ulterior motive, but it was not afraid. Either way, it would see, and make the final decision in the future. It was a creature of habit, but perhaps a change would be interesting, if nothing more.

You are right. It said, tilting it's pale head slightly. But, I not know if you good. That wasn't quite what he meant to say, but he didn't have the words to explain himself better. Huffing, frustrated, it continued after a pause. Come if you want, I make up mind after. A fair warning was fair, it supposed.

Shaking out its pelt once more, it turned towards the waterfall, quickly deciding to scale it somehow so it might get a better look at its surroundings. Trees were a simple pleasure, but they often obscured the way to a better biome for the frosty wolf. It made no attempt to communicate its reasoning to Larke, too irritated for another attempt at English.
