RE: Second Door: The Withering Siege - Tinka - 4/1/2026

tinka did not like violence. to hear of it, to think of it—least of all to see it. leaving her world and coming to this one, well, despite its darkness and chill, she had hoped she might never have to touch it at all.

she had thought to turn away, to choose no door—but there were scents she knew. scents of home. of belonging. what would it mean, if she were nothing but a coward? it would not do.

it was with fear in her chest that she tore through the second door, hoping oh so desperately, to lend aid in whatever way she could.

a gasp left, horrified and broken, at the sight before her. monsters! sickly, twisted things, clawing and tearing at a tree so vast she had to lean back just to take it in. her breath stuttered in her chest as her gaze climbed and climbed.

it was beautiful.

had these creatures gone rabid with sickness? what were they doing? why! the tree was clearly part of something sacred. of balance. of healing, of creation and they tore at it like it meant nothing. they had to be something evil! something sent to disrupt this world, to tear it apart so cruelly nothing could save it.

the tree seemed older than life itself, and she could feel it pulsing with life and power in a way that felt tired. hurt. but it tried—it was trying!

it made her entire heart ache. a sob tore from her chest before she could stop it. please! stop! she cried, voice breaking as it carried uselessly into the chaos. you can’t do that! pointless words, swallowed by a war she did not understand.

a scream tore through the crowd. one she knew. her head snapped toward it, and without thinking, she followed, stumbling into motion, nearly tripping over her own feet as she rushed forward. she ducked and weaved, trying to avoid snapping jaws and grasping, twisting limbs, but it was no use. these things were relentless, single-minded in their destruction, tearing through anything that dared stand in their way. including her.

when at last her teeth found purchase against one of the wraiths, her entire body recoiled at the contact—unnatural, wrong beneath her bite. she had never thought she would harm another, not like this, never like this. it took everything in her not to falter, not to drop and bare her throat in submission.

but she held on. she had to. what creature would dare unravel the balance of life itself?

tears streamed freely down her cheeks, broken sobs and fear leaving her body trembling with every movement, every breath, but she did not stop.

RE: Second Door: The Withering Siege - Castle - 4/1/2026

Starting Location: The Roots …

Teeth rip into flanks, every wraith taken down another takes their place it seems…. BUT Castle was a Revenant of his own and there was no rest for the dead. Throwing aside the fallen body he stood unshakable with others before this tree, before something that was supposedly meant for more, to heal, to bring about something….

It hit too close to home, reminded him too much of someone. He may have failed them before but not this time…. Not here.

Many others were hear, many others to fight and with a shake of his head and snarled, Castle ran once more into the frey.

RE: Second Door: The Withering Siege - Freya - 4/1/2026

All Freya was thinking of was her children.

Her sweet, beautiful children.

Mythris may not have been her original home, but it was the place she became a mother. It was the place Viola. Bella, Hawthorn, and Westfall grew up. It was where some of her more treasured memories were created. She would risk every piece of her if it meant securing a future for them and keeping their home safe.

Freya was small and untrained in the field of combat, but even being a minimal obstacle for the haunting creatures was helpful, wasn’t it? Sure, she wouldn’t be able to rip them apart like some of the others were capable of, but she could at least help hold them off, even if it was risking her own safety.

She would do this for them, and she would never regret it.

RE: Second Door: The Withering Siege - Laurel - 4/1/2026

Violence was in her blood, so when she was thrown into a terrible dream and told to pick a door?

The choice was....easy enough.

She was terrified of the amount of bodies attacking the tree, but this was her chance to see more of the world! Laurel ran through the second door, and locked in...close by Magnolia. Violence was her thing, Krone's was escaping into the great unknown, but damn if she didn't know how to fight thanks to her sister.

She'd cover the smaller Fox's back.

RE: Second Door: The Withering Siege - Shèngyǔ - 4/1/2026

While it was true that he had trained Fen in some areas of self defense, Shèngyǔ wasn’t prepared to witness the princess charging into battle. It made sense for her personality, but it also rested on his shoulders to ensure her safety.

Following after the Phoenix, Shèng was on high alert, his attention centralized around his charge and whatever harm may come her way.

The wraiths were ruthless in their pursuits, but he couldn’t give up, not when so much was on the line for the dynasty.

RE: Second Door: The Withering Siege - Baal - 4/1/2026

warrior

The world needed him to fight?

He'd fight.

Baal threw himself into the beasts, biting left and right, throwing beasts away and shoving himself closer and closer to the tree.

RE: Second Door: The Withering Siege - El Coyote - 4/1/2026

There is no honorable reason why he chooses the second door.

It's just the door that's before him.

He knows the gnashing teeth.

The absolution of violence.

Coyote doesn't think when he tears for the first Wraith he sees; all he knows is a bared throat is the place in which to dig his jaws.

Auto-failing Coyote for a minor injury!

RE: Second Door: The Withering Siege - Khyra - 4/1/2026

Any excuse for a good brawl and Khyra was all in. But a fight to save the world? The fiery wolf found that to be a bit too much. At first, the woman didn’t want to do it. She had only recently found this place and as much as she liked staying, she couldn’t see any reason to fight in someone else' s war. Of course, that was until mister Cade had a word to say about it.

The older wolf dug into her ear, yapping and scolding how it was wrong of her to sit idle by and of course with the reluctance of a rolling boulder, she obliged her services to the cause. If only for his sake, however. She had grown fond of the man in her time and if anything happened to him? Well, let’s just say the wraiths would pale to the fires of her wrath. And there was no better target than the present.

Standing like a bulwark, Khyra snarls. She was born for this, bred for this. Every ounce of her being screamed to be unleashed upon the phantom hoard before her. All it took was a rattling howl before the large woman thrust herself into the fray. Clawing, snapping, biting, tearing— anything her body could take purchase on she’d rip it asunder.

I am my mothers daughter, I am her strength.

Brynhild's body moved before her mind thought, racing forwards towards that middle door, towards the tree she caught glimpses of in her adventures south, she'd seen it, heard what it could do, and she thought many times, perhaps her and Ylva could use it, have their own litter, bring their own whelps into this world after this chaos settled. How would Solvi react if she had little brothers or sisters?

The thought alone drove her forwards, into that door, to the tree that was being attacked and her eyes locked onto the Honeybee, that golden pelt as soft as sunshine and quickly she moved, bracing herself, using the skills she'd learned for years to lunge for a wraith, her jaws clamping into a foul beast, she didn't dare let her guard drop.

Auto minor or major injury

Some princesses don't become queens

Fantasia didn't care, much, until it came to the threat of an ancestral tree that she knew stood for a reason so high and so powerful. Magic wasn't something unknown to her, so when this dream also came with portals, she walked through the middle one, straight into a war between the living and deceased, of those who had a life here on Mythris compared to souls that no longer were bound by a beating heart.

She huffed sharply, and moved swiftly, rearing herself up onto her back legs to stomp her front hooves onto a wraith, watching it dissipate under her weight. The equine moved like she'd done this a thousand times, bucking, stomping, chomping and nipping, all of it, in the name of the holy tree that stood so tall yet weakening with each attack of these foul beasts.
