Hiding in spiderwebs - Zarok - 3/26/2026

Zarok has rolled a 14 for sanity, so he is very calm and approachable during this thread. Thread is also backdated to 3/22/26

Zarok lingered in the wisteria woods, it was the closest thing to home anymore. His legs often moved without his mind thinking, head held low below his shoulders, eyes staring off into space often enough. Today was no different but he was a little more aware of everything, so he decided to try and hunt a rabbit he smelt.

As the beast of a wolf moved, Zarok barely noticed the drop off behind the rabbit. So as the wolf lunged, his teeth got the rabbit, but his paws did not find the earth again, instead he dropped down into a shallow area of water, chest first, a gasp of pain ripping his jaws open as hot pain rippled from his shoulders at the impact.

Sitting there with a silent glare forwards, the dark pelted canine slowly shifted to stand, huffing a shaky breath before grabbing the rabbit and moving away from the water, ears flicking backwards against his skull when he finally settled down to eat.

RE: Hiding in spiderwebs - Cetseni - 3/31/2026

The cold has settled for the evening, a biting chill tingling the back of her throat as swirling mist forms with each tired exhale. As usual, her mind was occupied with little other than the source of her next meal. She hadn't even spoken a word aloud in what felt like weeks, the solitude swallowed her completely. She'd watched the muscle in her body be whittled down over the months, rodents and carrion and the like were all that kept it from complete collapse.

It was times like these she wondered if her life would have been better to take the Chieftain's "offer". To live as a slave. As a Lanzadoii. As anything but a cursed Muradoii. Did Sivaak even care what became of her daughters? Surely not.

She would not be slave. She did not take these words back then, nor would she now. Though she had little dignity left, she still had her freedom. Whatever good that did her.

Commotion ahead is a cause for investigation, the sounds of disturbed ground and thicket snapping as a larger force barreled through, black ears perk in an instant. A hunt.

She is quick to follow suit, arriving just in time to see the other crash face first into a cruelly-hidden shallow pool; though even this obstacle did not stop him from catching the squealing creature he chased. Red bloomed in the water in sweeping streaks before predator carried prey to the bank where he might eat.

He was too big for the girl to challenge, Cetseni knew this and yet the hunger pangs carried her forward anyways, limbs moved of their own accord, bloodscent in the air was a taunt like no other. She looked from rabbit to wolf and could not help but think of what a feast the both of them would be, if only she had the strength to assure it.

Blood-drinker steps from the brambles, intense red-gold gaze locked firmly on the meal clasped between dark limbs. She doesn't know what to say. Or do. So she stares at him on shifting paws in tense and awkward silence, her breath is heavy and the air is thin between. It's not like she'd ever fought another wolf before, yet the instinct felt hard to stifle. She was bad with words anyways. Bad with everything.

Not even she knows what she is doing.
