Do you ever feel like you're underwater? Drowning inside like there's no tomorrow? - Altair. - 4/2/2026 ![]() I am homesick for a home that i have yet to create
3-3-3 OC SpeechEmotional Actions Thoughts Altair settled quietly into the mountains, he'd gotten Briar home, so he was rather content but he did not stop, no, Vane's never stop till they have what they are owed, what they are destined to lead and here, in this new world, encased and getting swallowed by blue fissures, Aetheria Kingdom is what Altair was meant to lead. He knew now, that it would not be easy, knew that this world had..magic, of some kind in it, he knew that from the start, from the way he'd walked through one cave and out another with no way back. He understood this magic slightly, it helped in ways, but also hurt in many others, and right now, an island, shaped that of a wolf, was hurting it's own land. He wasn't sure what to do about the fissures, but he did know he could not stop his patrols. So, The Zenith set off, with a woof to Briar if she was near, that he was going to patrol, to scout the borders for any unknown scents. He felt something was off today, that something might happen, something in his gut said so. RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? Drowning inside like there's no tomorrow? - Briar - 4/2/2026 Briar may have been beaten to hell and back, but where Altair went -especially now, after he had bothered to come fetch her on no more than a gut feeling- she would follow. Each day that passed he proved to be a multifaceted creature with depth she hadn't encountered in her life before, and further, one that truly seemed to care for her. Her wellbeing. Her happiness.
A strange concept. Even her own parents had never seemed so willing to support her. When Altair boofed, she heaved herself to her paws and followed, not because she felt she had to but because she wanted to. Thorn winged after them happily. Briar didn't so much have the same foreboding feeling her mate did, but she did pick up on his stiffness. Tail flagging, muzzle twitching, she canted her head skyward and parted her jaws. The wind wasn't in their favor. A low growl sent the raven sweeping head, wings beating harder until hed vanished. After a few moments a caw of warning rattled back to them, and Briars hackles started to rise slowly. She sent a glance at Altair. RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? Skill: RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? Drowning inside like there's no tomorrow? - narrator - 4/13/2026 Who would give them permission to try and own the whole damn mountain? It certainly wasn't. She knew that. She'd heard her Mother warn all the cubs about them - wolves. Haughty things, acting like they owned everything just because they pissed on it. She scowled and thrashed her tail behind her, clawing at the dirt beneath her. It was so easy to work herself up as they pranced upon the face of the very summit that her family had claimed generations ago. The mountain lion scowled through the cold seeping into her bones; they'd lost so much this winter. She refused to see any more loss come to her family. She wanted to catch the damn bird - was it helping them? Was it somehow a prisoner of the wolves and their ambitious claims? How had they not eaten it already with the bleak, endless winter they'd suffered? She ducked down to maintain her vantage point and crept along a ridge of rocks. Spying was something she'd always been good at - it had made Mother so angry when she managed to sneak up on her. It was hard to miss the one the raven had been near - bright as the sun with a dark mask, the other blended in easier, but thankfully the two had stuck together. Oh - that bird. She was unsure if the cawing was because it spotted her, or if it was something else entirely, either way - she sucked in a deep breath and then let it out in a ear piercing screech that echoed across Morningstar itself. She was quick to shift her position, still low to the ground like she'd been taught. By herself she might do alright with fighting the two of them, but her scream might have also drawn family members who were curious. Hopefully not her Mother, she had the cubs, but still. The scream rattled through the stones and any crags and caves, and her gleaming golden eyes watched curiously to see how they'd react. RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? 3-3-3 OC SpeechEmotional Actions Thoughts Altair's tail flicked, ears twitching backwards towards Briar, head just slightly turning towards her when she followed, a slight smile pulling his lips into a thin line until he heard the caw from Thorn rang out, his nose scrunching up a bit as he glanced to the raven above them. His ears swiveled slightly, forwards, eyes narrowing in a sharp stare, silently watching the bird until he caught wind of a wolf he briefly met. Cedar was somewhere, his eyes glanced barely towards the direction of the wolf, until that ear piercing screech rang out, echoing off the stone and trees. His ears quickly pinned back, nostrils flaring as his head snapped in the direction of the feline, green eyes scanning slowly for it, hackles raising up as a low growl ripped its way from his throat. Carefully, Altair shifted, standing himself tall beside Briar, eyes still scanning each rock face for the mountain lion, ears twitching as he took a deep breath in to scent the air, jaws parted to taste the winds. This cat would not win this territory battle, even if it meant he had to chase an entire family off the peaks. I smelt Cedar somewhere, can you get Thorn to find him? Altair's voice remained steady and calm, but he felt his lips twitching to bare his teeth, and eventually he caught the sight of golden eyes staring at them, and instantly a warning growl escaped the Zenith. Fur bristling further as he turned his entire body towards the cat. Stupid cat.. RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? Drowning inside like there's no tomorrow? - Briar - 4/19/2026 Thorn came winging back quickly, soaring higher, screeching loud -- spooked, she thought. Predator, she assumed. The little shit didn't speak, but she'd learned how to read him pretty well by trial and error, by listening to his calls and seeing what was on the other side. She was confident in her assessment.
Then the scream split the air. Briar knew the sound of a fucking cat. Her hackles flashed up fully, lips pulling into a snarl -- corners twisted up at the edges. She could smell Cedar nearby, too, and thought he wouldn't need urging to join, but Altair wanted to make sure. Perhaps he knew the specific scent of whatever this feline was; as it stood, she could only say it wasn't a lynx. Her stance rose to mirror his, keen on protecting him if she had to. She barked a short, sharp note, and hollered skyward; Thorn, find! After another few circles overhead, the bird fluttered off into the distance. He'd find whatever familiar face was closest, which she hoped to be her brother. Would he go further? She wasn't sure -- she'd never needed him to do more than find them, screech a little, and come back. They either followed or she did. Cedar, at least, would recognize the one-legged raven. Would he know what to do with it in a setting they were both welcome, or would he still see the summons? Lovett had mentioned the little feathered bat being insistent the day they met; would he be now? So much with the bird was.... experimental. And he was more sentimental than she. She was hoping he'd return with backup before the cat got close enough for either party to engage, but Altair twisted in place to take up a more ferocious stance. Damn, she thought, followed by, fuck it. What was life without a little tea party every once in a while? Briar thrusted herself beside her partner once again and felt the giddiness rise in her throat. It wasn't even close to the size of the tiger she'd seen when she was a kid, and that guy had only surprised her because he'd jumped out of a bloody fuckin' tree. They could do this. Probably. A thundering snarl echoed Altair's warning, tail flagging high. RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? Drowning inside like there's no tomorrow? - Cedar - 5/1/2026
Skill: RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? Drowning inside like there's no tomorrow? - narrator - 5/11/2026 Wolves. Filthy, stinking creatures that rolled in shit and swarmed together like flies on a rotting carcass. She clicked her tongue, disappointed when the feathered meal flitted away and returned with yet another one of their nasty friends. Her nose wrinkled at the stench. Two she could manage, perhaps, but three was a stretch. But if she could snag the bird on her way out... she was swift, after all, far quicker than a wolf and twice as deadly. The only caveat was she had to make sure her aim was precise. The cat prowled noiselessly through the underbrush, eyes locked onto her target. Her tongue swiped across her lips. Just so - - perfect. She pounced, a motion so explosive and sudden it barely registered in their peripheral. She tried to grab the bird, and whether successful or not, she would immediately turn heel and move to dash back into the trees. RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? 3-3-3 OC SpeechEmotional Actions Thoughts Altair moved before thought could fully form. The sharp rustle of underbrush, the split-second shift in atmosphere, the blur of pale fur cutting through the shadows—his body reacted on instinct honed through years of surviving things far deadlier than a hungry cat. He collided hard with the cats flank mid-pounce, enough to throw off her trajectory whether her claws caught feathers or not. The impact sent both of them scattering into frost and leaf litter, but Altair twisted with practiced precision, landing on his paws in a spray of dirt. His lips peeled back instantly. The snarl that tore from his chest was low and vicious, the kind that didn’t bluff or posture. It promised violence with cold certainty. He planted himself between Briar and the intruder without hesitation, broad frame squared and ears pinned flat. Altair’s bright gaze locked onto the cat, unblinking. Well,he drawled, though the quiet edge in his tone was far more dangerous than shouting could’ve been, that was a spectacularly poor decision. His tail lashed once behind him, measured and controlled, while every line of his body screamed readiness. He didn’t advance—not yet. But the tension coiled beneath his skin made it obvious he’d close the distance in a heartbeat. This stretch of mountain is mine. His voice dropped lower, each word deliberate. And you just tried to put your claws on something under my protection. A slow grin pulled across his muzzle then, all sharp teeth and menace. You can still leave. He shifted his weight forward just enough to signal exactly how thin that mercy was. Run now, and I might let you keep your hide intact. Could that thing even understand him? RE: Do you ever feel like you're underwater? Drowning inside like there's no tomorrow? - Briar - 5/19/2026 Briar's gaze raked the feline, jaws gaping in a feral snarl, waiting - for it to move, for Cedar to join them, for Altair to move, anything. A snake, prepared to strike.
Less prepared than the Zenith. Briar was distracted by Thorn wheeling back, cawing his victory as her brother raced beneath him, whuffing back a pleased sound to both of them. Extra-good bits of prey for him, tonight! The bird fluttered, soaring, dipping -- celebrating and searching alike. He didn't catch sight of the cat before it lunged. The Deadwood shrieked a terrible sound and exploded into motion at the same time as the cat, but her partner was quicker. Thorn screeched in fear, a single feather plucking from his ass as he lifted higher into the sky -- lifting higher, higher, circling until he was no more than a speck. Maybe he had learned, from the lynx. Briar lagged long enough to watch and scent the air for blood, Altair's dusky form stepping in front of her to snarl at the feline. A spectacularly poor choice. Briar tossed her head like an angry bull from side to side, heartbeat rushing into her ears. She heard Altair offer it a chance to leave. It's pelt will stay intact, She didn't give it more than the time it took for her to charge around Altair and set her gaping fangs right for its fucking face. on the floor of our den. |
