Lost, or found? - AndyBrush - 5/12/2026 The cage door wasn't firmly shut that morning. Maybe it never was and Andy and his cagemates only found out that morning, when one of the recent arrivals who hadn't gotten used to captivity tried to slam against the door, and opened it wide. He eagerly ran out, followed by one more, then two more, and even an otherwise well behaved wolf like Andy Brush couldn't resist the exciting alure of freedom. He wasn't going to be gone forever, he liked his master, he did so many interesting things in his laboratory and he even spoke to him about it, although he couldn't understand a word. He just wanted to feel the earth under his paws, the scent of forests and trees, the air rushing through his fur as he ran. He would return to him once he had finished having fun. "The wolves have escaped!" There was so much confusion once the three men came. They had something that would stop wolves in their tracks, as if they fell asleep right there and then. Andy never saw them do anything worse to anyone, but he was always scared of being shot like that. Lucky for him, he managed to run into a bush and vanish down a forest trail while the guards were busy with the bigger and more aggressive wolves. Andy Brush just ran, only occasionally looking behind him to be sure the men didn't find him. He couldn't enjoy the forests, he barely noticed it from the everpresent fear. He just wanted to put the distance between him and their weapons. But after a while, he had to slow down and stop. He didn't run this much in months, not since his master captured him. He sniffed the air, and he couldn't sense any men nearby. But he couldn't sense any wolves he knew either. When he thought about it, the trees in the forest he ran into didn't smell quite like this, and he never remembered it being this thick. It was filled with sounds of foxes and songbirds, he could only hear ravens cawing above him now. He felt like he was in a completely different forest, one he didn't recognise or come back from. "Where am I?", he thought out loud meakly, walking through the trees trying to find a path that could lead him somewhere more familiar. RE: Lost, or found? - Devika1 - 5/15/2026 Ive had been learning the twisting maze that was Ravens Grove. She was quite skilled at mapping things out in her mind, a talent honed by the countless hours she spent alone. Now that the demonlings were old enough to no longer require such close watching, and with the reassurance that Ivandri and Aksel were likely somewhere nearby, she felt at ease for the first time in quite a while. Being away from those... creatures always brought a sense of relief. There was no destination in mind today. She simply wandered to explore her new home, stretch her legs, and breathe in the clean air. The ghost drifted silently through the trees until an unfamiliar voice broke the quiet. She paused instantly, dappled ears flicking as her brow furrowed in concentration, trying to place the direction it had come from. Curiosity stirred, and she moved toward the sound with practiced silence. Before long, a stranger came into view. Not quite a yearling, she guessed, though they were beginning to fill out all the same. Icy blue eyes studied them in silence, curiosity steadily blooming in her mind. Had Elvie mentioned any newcomers? Nothing surfaced. Caution settled over her then, and she approached warily. Every step was deliberate, silent, her pale form slipping between the trees like a wandering spirit. RE: Lost, or found? - AndyBrush - 5/15/2026 "Awooo! Anyone here?" Andy Brush thought a split second later that alerting the forest of his presence might not be a good idea. He was all alone after all, he didn't know anyone, there might not even be any other wolves around. He heard that there were animals bigger than wolves, and that he wouldn't stand a chance against one claw to claw. The only way his predicament could get worse, is if he met one of those beasts here. That's why he wasn't releaved at all to catch the scent of another wolf, not one that was as unfamiliar as this one. He wished nothing more than to disappear into the ground when he finally spotted the strange creature. It was unlike any wolf he saw before, and he thought he saw many different kinds. This one was larger, older, her fur had much richer colors compared to his own, and her shadow looked as if it were casting light instead of darkness like all other shadows did. Andy instinctively made a few steps back, before hesitating again, and making a few steps forward, before pausing again. "She must have noticed me by now", he thought to himself, and finally broke the silence with his shy nervous voice. "I don't know where I am, and I don't want to intrude any more than you do. Just, help me find my way out, and I won't step paw here ever again" RE: Lost, or found? - Devika1 - 5/16/2026 Oh dear. The poor thing seemed utterly terrified, uncertain even of himself. Hoping to ease at least some of his fear, Ive slowly lowered herself onto her stomach, blue eyes steady and calm upon him. This was the greatest challenge of being mute, communication so often became a careful balancing act of gestures and expressions. Tilting her head gently to one side, she offered the pup a soft, friendly wag of her tail. Hopefully, the small motion would bring him at least a little comfort. Keeping herself low to the ground, Ive crawled forward at an unhurried pace. Every movement was silent and deliberate, mindful not to startle him further. With a small motion of her head, she gestured toward the woods surrounding them before wagging her tail once more, trying her best to convey that this place was safe. Friendly. That he did not need to be afraid here. If only Elvie or Ivandri were nearby... they were far better suited for this sort of thing than she was. RE: Lost, or found? - AndyBrush - 5/16/2026 Andy carefully followed the wolf's movements. None of them seemed threatening, if anything they were welcoming, gentle without touching him. But there was no soothing reply to his words. She didn't tell him which way to go, where he was, or even introduce herself. In fact, he was unsure if this wolf understood him at all. Andy tried to return some gestures of his own, mostly the ones he used with his master who also didn't understand his words. He wagged his tail, sat down, and then slowly moved his head forwards, his eyes focused on hers. I am Andy Brush. Please help me return home, it's just outside of the forest, there's a tall building, with wolves in cages... His voice trembled as he spoke. What do wild wolves of the forest think of those like him who got captured? No wolves dared to enter the grounds of the laboratory, whoever found their way there by accident would be chased away by the guards. They think it's so much worse than it really is, or at least that's how he imagined it. RE: Lost, or found? - Devika1 - 5/17/2026 The poor thing still did not seem to understand. How was she supposed to explain that he was no longer where he once had been? That whatever home he knew was now beyond his reach? A quiet sense of helplessness settled within her. Shaking her head slowly, Ive motioned toward him with a gentle tilt of her muzzle, a silent invitation to follow. Rising carefully to her feet, she turned and began weaving through the maze of trees. After only a few paces, she paused and glanced back over her shoulder, blue eyes searching to see whether the boy had chosen to follow. The very least she could do was lead him to someone who could properly communicate with him. If he came after her, Ive would continue onward through the forest, every step silent and deliberate as her pale form slipped between the trees. RE: Lost, or found? - AndyBrush - 5/18/2026 Andy Brush could tell the wolf wasn't happy, but why? What bad news could she bring him? What stone was weighing on her mind? Whatever it was, she clearly wanted to lead him somewhere else to tell or show him. Thus he followed after her, first keeping his distance, and then slowly catching up to her, partly to be sure he didn't lose her within the thick forest, but also because he wanted to be close to another wolf, like one yearns for the warmth in the cold. RE: Lost, or found? - Ivandri - 5/23/2026 RE: Lost, or found? - AndyBrush - 5/23/2026 Andy Brush could smell another wolf, equally as foreign as the first one he met. He must be very far away from his home, he never heard of wolves acting, looking or smelling like this. And there were many different kinds of wolves at the research facility as well. He sat down and looked into the eyes of the approaching wolf. He never saw a wolf with a star on their forehead, if they had a scar their it would just look like a scratch or wound, not something as specific. Maybe this wolf was important? He made sure to be very respectful knowing that could be true. I'm sorry, I am Andy Brush, his tail wiggled a little as if to greet her, I'm lost, I ran into the forest and found myself here. I told her, he nodded at Ive, that I am from outside of the forest, there is this big building where my master keeps wolves in cages, but she said nothing. Maybe you know the way there? Andy Brush stepped back a little to wait for a reply. This wolf could and wanted to speak, so maybe he will finally get his reply. But why was he feeling so anxious about the answer? What's the worst it could be? RE: Lost, or found? - Ivandri - 5/27/2026 |
