And I miss my lover - Yoshi - 6/29/2026

Yoshi genuinely felt like he was gonna die.

He did not know just how far south he'd traveled, or how long it had been since he'd started, but he instantly regretting going this direct. It was hot everywhere, of course, because of the summer heat, but he had NEVER felt anything like this. There wasn't even a single blade of green grass in sight.

Or maybe there was, and the hallucinations were so bad that he'd begun to genuinely belive he was in hell.

He stumbled as he walked, weak from heat sickness, and ended up tripping over a rock. Landing unceremoniusly on his face.

—and unfortunelty, he did not get back up.

He was alive, concious — but did not bother getting back up.

The Endless Plains had been rude today. Hot. Dry. Entirely lacking in snacks. Fairytale had been wandering aimlessly through the golden grasses for what felt like forever when she spotted something dark lying ahead. At first, she thought it was a rock, then the rock groaned.

Her ears shot upward. Oh. That was a fellow furry! The Rose Bride changed course immediately, trotting toward the collapsed stranger. As she drew closer, she could make out a wolf sprawled face-first against the ground, looking approximately one inconvenience away from becoming one with the dirt.

Fairytale stopped beside him. Silence. A breeze drifted through the grasses. The wolf did not move. Her ears lowered.

...Well, that's concerning. Or convient. Whichever is first. Carefully, she lifted one paw and extended a single claw.

Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke.

The sharp tip gently prodded his shoulder.

Yo. A beat. You good?

Nothing.

She poked him again.

Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke.

Because this is either a very committed nap or a medical emergency. The princess lowered herself onto her haunches, peering down at him with concern. You know, if you're dead, I'm gonna be super awkward about it. Another poke.

Hello? Her head tilted. You still got a soul in there, buddy?

A pause.

Then, with complete sincerity:

If you're dying, you should probably let me know. I have absolutely no medical qualifications, but I can panic REALLY effectively.

Yoshiro was practically nodding in and out of consciousness by this point. The intense heat of the sun made his head throb against the walls of his skull. His tongue felt like it was stuck to the roof of his mouth with glue. So dry – so thirsty. He was basically no better than a piece of meat left to burn on a skillet. Yet despite it feeling like he was holding on by a thread, his blurred vision made out the slightest blur of movement. It was a shadow in contrast to the reds and sepias of the desert, and they smelled floral. Feminine.

They-

Oh, alright. She started poking him now.

A single hindfoot would twitch every time she did, and it was starting to get annoying. Hmmmmmgggghhhhh…. He weakly protested with his cheek still pressed against the floor, which came out as more of a low, drawn out whimper than anything.

Eventually, he used whatever bit of strength was left within him to kick himself off his belly and roll onto his side instead. Thankfully, the mystery visitor stopped poking the shit out of him (it was starting to hurt) and now he had a better view of the shadowy woman before him. I…….you……n-no… He attempted to speak between deep breaths.

W-water….I can’t find any water….
