He was stuck in the moment, completely enthralled with their journey up, up, up to the stars! He thought this time was never really going to end. It was going to slow, but no in the way where one is bogged down with boredom. No, it was a slowness where one does not realize that time is even passing, like a dream the engulfed all of existence.

He was ignorant to her visions of the future, his mind almost incapable of thinking beyond the moment with the magic of the flame grounding him to simply bask in Euphemia’s glow. He followed her light like a moth to flame, willing to burn up into nothingness to simply be closer for even a second.

He was ready to be fried to a crisp.

Despite the control of the flame, wanting him to turn into a puddle of happy ooze into the ground, he was quite sensitive to the movements of Euphemia. Her stumble sent him into a panic, as much as he could panic right now, which wasn’t very much. He puts his shoulder to her side, gently lifting her upwards as she catches herself, her laughter eventually forming into words.

“Everything? This one would try to tell you all that is known…every story spun since the first turning of time itself, if only time would grant the hours!” he exclaims, wishing he could stay for hours on end to tell all the stories known by his people…even then, not single individual knew all the stories there. He felt suddenly that something was missing…his staff! To aid in the telling of stories!

Quickly he was distracted though with another stumble, offering a constant shoulder for her to lean on, almost longing for such stumbles to get the privilege of her touch. The world was blessed with more of her words, and he looked at her with great attention as she mention his first death…oh but how it was indeed what lead to their stars meeting! He nodded his head quickly in agreement.

”Yes…yes, death. It is a terrible thing. Yet the old stories speak of it as a path that leads to fate. So it was with this one…for it was fate that we should meet upon this one’s rebirth into this world. The stars had only just begun to weave our story,” he said with great reverence, knowing now that his death had only lead to good things! At least…for him! There was that feeling in the back of his mind, the uncomfortable feeling of not knowing if Devika was also reborn…and doing well. It was hard to focus on, but he knew Euphemia would also wish Devika well if she knew!

Their journey upwards was a continuous thing, and their bodies were most certainly aching under the spell of the flame masking such unpleasurable things. Both of them panted as they got closer to the sky, and the sky itself began to change to expose the stars. Her question, it came as a surprise him, ears perking though at the mention of his mother. In fact, he about started to glow himself as he began to speak of her.

”Yes! This one’s mother is Twilightsong, whose voice holds such beauty that all fall silent to embrace her serenade. Twilightsong is this one’s dearest friend and…this one misses her beyond words. Perhaps one day, you shall meet her. This one knows…knows she would love you as deeply as she loves this one.” he enthused, tail wagging wildly behind him. His expression though…it faded a bit as he considered how to approach the concept of his father.

”This one did not know his father. The name carried by him was one spoken in shame, Gravehowl, from a land far beyond this one’s knowing. Yet, this one had his mother, and the Starwoven pack to raise him,” he explained, not thinking to really expand on the fact that Gravehowl was not his name…not the one given to him by his pack, nor the name he used, but the name given to refer to him by the Starwoven. He did not allow his face to falter for long, and her tried to perk right back up. His father would never bring him down…that is what mother always wanted!

”This one must find a staff, Euphemia! A stick, of my height, so that we may point to the stars when we weave our story!” he changed the subject a bit, wanting to know of her parents but feeling the urge to do things RIGHT. The staff was needed, and the moments were ticking. It was so close to the moment of truth, and his molten eyes looked from her to their surroundings, hoping something would stick out quickly.
