The sky above them rumbled, drawing energy from the pit of a planet destined for destruction. Darkness encumbered everything, casting a heavy shadow across a dying universe. It had been weeks since light had touched the surface, leaving a land aching for a softer touch.

Tiberii lay awake, her skin electrified by the erratic pulse of a pained earth. The sky would ripple, twisted by a blue flash of lightning as the world beneath them continued to fracture. She would blink, as if acceptance was all she could muster. It was the end of days, surely.

The bull would twist, restless as she pressed herself against the figure at her side.

She needed him awake.

A soft nudge would try to draw Shiloh from slumber, wordless and tender, nose tracing delicate messages against his skin. A soft smile would grace the fur of his flank, her breath mingling with his auburn coat as she nipped at the edges of his skin, luring him from his sleep ... luring him to follow her.

She would lift herself from the den, taking heavy steps into a world that remained at war.

She did not know he was there, but she could sense him.

Without looking to him, she spoke.

Her voice flickered into the atmosphere, crackling like thunder. Is this what ya thought tha end would look like? It was potent — echoing. The gold in her eyes glazed over, the haze of blue stealing life from behind her lenses as she turned back toward him.

She smiled, but she lost something behind it.

And she stood there, fur ruffled by the breeze. And in those moments, she would look far gentler than she ever had. For even Tiberii's hard edges could not compete with the harshness of the end of the world.

And it was there that Tiberii would wait for Shiloh — at the edge of the apocalypse.

And this was where she wanted to be. Looking at a starless sky. Gazing into an orb of hopelessness.

For it all seemed possible.

With him.
