There had been a witness to his clumsiness, a lady witness at that! A fool! Certainly he looked like a fool.. A few times his jaws parted, and yet nothing came out, until finally he could conjure up something that wasn’t quite what he intended for it to be.. "O-oh no.. swimming.. that wasn’t me.. or no..! It was but.. but it wasn’t a purposeful decision, you see I fell because.. because of the bird..!! I was asking for help and.. y’know what birds do, t-they fly, and that’s what he did! So I uh.. well I was chasing it, and I fell.. in this river actually..! Well.. obviously but.. yea"
Nothing short of projectile vomit except with his words, not knowing where to start, and clearly where to end..
How scary this was, he hadn’t expected to find someone so soon.. a talking someone. He could hardly put his words together and yet he had to! Otherwise how else would he figure out his current situation??
Feathers? What was she talking about? Confusion was riddle across his soggy face for a split moment before his gaze shifted to where hers met and then back up again. "Oh! Yes feathers, very feathery for sure! They are quite nice aren’t they? I-I mean I should know, I put them there..! This is.. this is definitely not my first time seeing them haha.. ha.." A laugh that felt so uncomfortable reluctantly left his throat, leaving him with an equally uncomfortable as well as plenty awkward attempt at a smile ticking across his lips.
She could probably tell that that was a poor excuse of a lie.. he was never too good at those, though he did agree with her! They were pretty, clearly he had somewhat good taste. However he suddenly got the urge to return the compliment, of what he should’ve thought about.. instead he said the first thing he could think of. "Y-your eyes..! Pretty.. as well..? Very uhm.. very bluey, l-like the ocean and-and sand too..!" His words were rather hesitant though instead of the soft fluttering of what others would call butterflies, he could only feel the heavy, thudding feeling of wings from what felt like bats.. fruit bats.
He felt uneasy and for some reason he could feel his heart in his throat?? When did it get up there.. hearts were supposed to stay in the chest, and yet his was on an expedition through his body..
Unsure of what else to say or do, he simply mimicked her mechanic nod, finding it to be the most comfortable thing to do in the moment. The rest of his body had stiffened up, nearly frozen in the ever moving body of water he’d found himself in. A large part of him wanted to run, very far, very fast, however the other part practically forced him to stay, he was.. lost, he had no answer and she could give them.. maybe, he actually didn’t think of that part yet.. whatever, he’d cross that river when he got there! Or fall in.. like he’s been doing..
