The morning silence would quickly melt, footsteps preceding a voice that boomed loudly enough to quiet the birdsong. Draugur's eyes would turn, as attentive as they were sharp ... and the silhouette of the stranger drew near. He supposed he shouldn't have been surprised. He stood out like a sore thumb, and the scent of blood often drew the curious eyes of predators nearer.

But this was not the land of monsters.

"Holy shit. What the hell happened?"

The lilt in her voice made him think she was more curious than concerned. Intense eyes would roam over her, noting her sturdy size and earthy coat. And her eyes burned with silver, just like his own. For a moment, he'd let her question linger, chewing on a response as he grew more impassive. You didn't see them? His words were half statement, half question, his deep voice vibrating from the depths of his chest.

Hadn't everyone seen them? The bears. The wraiths. The end of the world.

As he spoke, the wounds and scars along his back seemed to resonate, glowing faintly with magical blue energy.

Seems they fucked off, anyway. Hopefully for good, he'd add idly. A glimmer of idle danger simmered beneath his words, his mind thinking of the fuck that had nearly killed him. Draugur would finally pull his eyes from the stranger and angle them back toward the horizon. His nostrils would flare, catching the wind as he tried to pick out exactly where he'd ended up.

Nothing was familiar. It would take him some time to figure out his way back to his brother ... and before that, he needed a place to wash his wounds.

As he rolled his shoulders, he could feel the crack of his skin, blood mingling with dirt atop his ermine coat.
