Altair watched Cedar settle with the same calm composure he’d carried since stepping into the territory, and for a moment the dusky wolf simply regarded him in silence. There was something grounding about the other wolf’s presence—steady, confident without needing to prove it.
A faint smirk tugged at the corner of Altair’s muzzle at the mention of Briar being her own woman.
That sounds like her.His voice was smooth and quiet, touched with restrained amusement.
Stubborn enough to make concern feel insulting.
His pale gaze drifted briefly toward the distant treeline before returning to Cedar again, sharper now, more thoughtful than guarded.
